Q: What What happened to WebRider, is this just renaming the existing product?
A. No, the FX Series is not just WebRider by another name. The FX Series is an evolutionary replacement for Stampede’s successful WebRider product that was originally introduced in 2004. While the FX Series offers the same functionality and benefits of WebRider, additional features and functionality have been added, including the new Acceleration On-Demand Client, as well as support for AJAX and XML technologies. Stampede customers who have already deployed WebRider can easily upgrade their system for the latest functionality offered by the FX Series and upgraded Client technology. Those customers on a yearly subscription service have their investment protected and receive free access to all improvements.

Q: I already use a competitive product to improve the performance of my Web applications, why should I consider the FX Series?
A. Most Web acceleration solutions today are designed to improve the delivery of Web pages to the browser. Today's enterprise applications require more than just Web page delivery. Inventory data, pricing data, CRM information, all need to be accessed by users and typically downloaded to remote users, with changes uploaded back to the system. In addition, collaborative applications are constantly downloading and publishing data to be shared by users. The FX Series was designed for this type of environment, and while it provides great performance for the delivery of Web pages, if you need acceleration for the performance and delivery of information throughout the enterprise, the FX Series is required. In addition, the FX Series with Acceleration On-Demand is specifically designed for the new enterprise Web applications using AJAX and XML technologies.

Q: Can the FX Series function as a one-sided solution with only the appliance installed at the data center?
A: Yes. The FX Series can be installed as an appliance only solution at the data center, and will provide benefits through the acceleration of Web page delivery to the browsers. However, the full benefit of a FX Series solution is realized when our Client software is utilized in conjunction with the FX Series appliance.

Q: Why is a two-sided solution better for performance than a one-sided solution?
A. Two-sided acceleration solutions are better because they are not limited to only the technology that the browser supports. Browsers will allow data compression through standard Gzip technology, and HTTP/HTTPs data streams to the browser can be optimized. However, unless there is technology on both ends of the network, the optimization to and from the browser cannot be optimized. In addition, a two-sided solution is required in order to support non-HTTP/HTTPS applications, and is the only implementation that can fully benefit mobile users as well; laptops, PDAs and even phones. The combination of hardware and software provides several key customer benefits; performance is maximized, initial investment is reduced, deployment can be done in stages, and upgrades or enhancements are more easily deployed.
