Stampede Technologies Positioned in Magic Quadrant for WAN Optimization Controllers, 2007

Evaluation Based on Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision

Dayton, Ohio, January 8, 2008 – Stampede® Technologies, Inc. (www.stampede.com), a leading provider of WAN Optimization and Application Acceleration solutions for Enterprise Applications today announced that the company has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Magic Quadrant for WAN Optimization Controllers, 2007. The Magic Quadrant positions vendors in a particular market segment based on their vision and ability to execute that vision. According to Gartner, to be included in the 2007 Magic Quadrant, vendors' products must include capabilities in at least three of the four broad categories of WAN acceleration techniques:

  • Traffic management capabilities such as WAN QOS classification and enforcement or traffic shaping
  • Compression, caching and/or data replication or reduction capabilities
  • Generic protocol acceleration (for TCP or HTTP, for example)
  • Application-specific optimization features, such as acceleration of the CIFS file-sharing protocol

The Stampede Application Acceleration Series™ is a two-sided hardware/software acceleration solution (commonly referred to as a Soft WOC) for maximizing performance and bandwidth utilization of enterprise applications. Stampede’s Soft WOC approach employs performance-enhancing technologies such as TurboStreaming™ (for accelerating compressed or encrypted objects), SSL Client-side Termination (for accelerating SSL transactions), Intelligent Cache Differencing, Image Transformation, CIFS Acceleration, Connection Management and Load Balancing, providing significant performance enhancement. These optimization technologies support traditional HTTP/HTTPS, legacy TCP and the emerging Web 2.0/AJAX application environments.

“Stampede is proud to be recognized in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for WAN Optimization Controllers,” said Gordon Dorworth, Stampede Technologies President and CEO. “WAN optimization has become especially important in industries like Retail who continue to deploy more centralized applications for remote stores, mostly using the web, and using technology like handheld PCs to improve productivity. Stampede is the leading innovator in Soft WOC technology, including Windows Mobile 5/6 devices, and since a Soft WOC solution can cost 4-5 times less than solutions that place hardware in every store location, Stampede’s solutions have a much faster ROI.”
