Lotus Notes and Domino-enhancing Software Extends Capabilities, Offering Enterprises Increased Performance, Bandwidth and Storage Savings, Efficient Management

ORLANDO, FLORIDA––JANUARY 27, 2003––Stampede Technologies, Inc., a leading developer of advanced software that dramatically improves the performance of IBM Lotus enterprises and reduces total cost of ownership, is demonstrating TurboGold Enterprise Edition with important new features and capabilities at Lotusphere 2003 in Orlando, Florida. TurboGold Enterprise Edition provides Lotus users with significant improvements in enterprise-wide data movement, data storage, data control and Web acceleration. With TurboGold Enterprise Edition, Stampede delivers an enterprise-class solution that provides significant performance improvements and advanced user administration capabilities. It incorporates services for setting policies for replication and synchronization, Web acceleration, multicasting and database priority assignments, and enables users to easily distribute them throughout the Notes infrastructure. Along with improved storage management, these features bring added value to enterprises focused on creating more efficient operations and improving bottom-line results.

TurboGold Enterprise Edition Features and Performance Enhancements

Recent third-party performance testing by KMDS Technical Associates, the administrative agent for the NotesBench Consortium, found that TurboGold provides users with dramatic savings in network traffic and storage management. TurboGold provides benefits in four key areas:

Data movement: Multicator™ function uses the multicasting capability of the network infrastructure to simultaneously broadcast updates to all database subscribers, instead of replicating updates to each subscriber. This feature dramatically improves bandwidth utilization since updated fields and documents need to be distributed only once rather than individually replicated to each Notes user. KMDS testing showed that TurboGold creates savings of greater than 85 percent in network traffic. Stampede is also planning to include a new server-to-server multicasting capability, further enhancing performance.

Data storage: Improved storage management is enabled by a TurboGold function that dynamically and transparently converts databases and email attachments to Zip format, thereby reducing storage requirements. This includes a standalone utility to compress existing databases and attachments on Domino servers. Also scheduled are additional AutoZip capabilities designed to further reduce storage requirements and increase the efficiency of sending data over the Internet. KMDS found that TurboGold provides users with savings of 85 percent in disk space.

Data control: Traffic-shaping management offers “Quality of Service” and on-time delivery for Notes applications and mission-critical information. Used together with external traffic-shaping hardware, this management tool enables administrators to assign priorities to Notes traffic, as well as track and charge bandwidth usage by user and/or departments. Policy-based management enables additional control of TurboGold’s features and policy settings to help manage the acceleration and delivery of Notes database traffic.

Web acceleration: Online, real-time HTTP Web acceleration supports iNotes, QuickPlace and HTML applications, accelerating Web access for all TurboGold users. KMDS benchmark testing found that TurboGold enabled a 65 percent reduction in network traffic between the client and server.

New “HealthCheck”

As part of the TurboGold Enterprise Edition announcement today, Stampede also unveiled the “Stampede HealthCheck.” The Stampede HealthCheck is a fast, three-step process through which Stampede can assess a Lotus-based IT environment and identify areas for improved performance, bandwidth savings and improved system management. During Lotusphere 2003, the HealthCheck is available free of charge to all attendees in Booth # 307 and takes less than five minutes to complete.

TurboGold supports Lotus Notes 4.51 and above, including Notes/Domino 6. TurboGold’s client runs on all Windows 32 platforms, and TurboGold’s server runs on Windows NT/2000/XP and IBM’s iSeries, pSeries and zSeries platforms.
