Enterprise Application Optimization Services

The Stampede Enterprise Application Optimization Services are key shared services on the Stampede appliance that provide:

  • Application Firewalling to protect your enterprise and applications from attacks caused by unauthorized transactions
  • Load Balancing that intelligently distributes the transaction workload across multiple Web application servers
  • Connection Management that removes the burden of establishing and terminating TCP sessions from the Web servers
  • SSL Offloading which eliminates the overhead of SSL key and encryption processing from the Web servers
  • Application Policies to identify how each individual application is accelerated

Client Services

A rich set of client services, in a two-sided implementation, enable the unique functionality of the Stampede Web 2.0 Performance Series.  It is through this client technology that only Stampede can provide the ultimate in flexibility, reduced expense and increased performance. Stampede's Client Services consist of our latest Acceleration On-Demand technology, Client Software for Layer 7 HTTP/HTTPS applications, and Client Software for Layer 5 Winsock applications.  The combination of these Client Services and the Stampede Web 2.0 Performance Series appliance provide:

  • Full Bi-directional Compression of data; including Cookies and HTTP header information
  • Cache Differencing which maintains a coherent copy of the browser cache at both the client and appliance, transmitting only the dynamic changes across the network
  • SSL Client-side Termination to accelerate SSL data by terminating the SSL session at the client, applying our acceleration techniques, and then securely transmitting the information across the network
  • Compressed or Encrypted Object Acceleration using TurboStreaming, which transmits this information up to 5 times faster

SOA Optimization Services

The Stampede Web 2.0 Performance Series also addresses the demands placed on the network and Web servers as a result of the proliferation of XML data and Service Oriented Architecture applications.  Stampede's client and appliance technology are now XML-aware, and add services specifically designed to optimize this environment.

  • XML Document Differencing extends our Cache Differencing technology to only transmit the actual changes in the XML document; significantly reducing the data that is transmitted
  • XML Schema Validation to validate the grammar of the XML message, and ensure the message does not contain unexpected or potentially malicious content
  • XML Content Based Routing enables routing decisions to be made based on a dynamic analysis of the XML document

XML Threat Management Services

The transaction intensive demands of Web Services, AJAX and other XML applications require bullet-proof security.  XML applications are vulnerable to maliciously corrupted data, denial of service (DoS) attacks, and intrusion attempts.  The Stampede Web 2.0 Performance Series provides hardened security features to address these issues.

  • XML Content Inspection uses parallel hardware to do symantec threat analysis on the entire XML message
  • XML Well-formedness Checking protects the host environment against non-malicious message corruption
  • XML Denial of Service (XDoS) Detection provides detection of specific XML parser attacks
  • Message Anomaly Detection provides adjustable tolerance levels for recognition of message traffic patterns and identification of packet anomalies

Hardware vs. Software

Your unique enterprise requirements dictate the solution that is most appropriate.  XML Schema Validation and XML Content Based Routing services are offered as a software-based or hardware-based option. When the hardware-based solution is selected, these services are provided through highly specialized Content Processors designed specifically to process XML.  In addition, all of the XML Threat Management services are delivered through the same specialized hardware. This added acceleration capability is delivered as a result of our partnership with Tarari, Inc.
