General TurboGold QuestionsQ. What software components make up TurboGold?A. There are three TurboGold software components; 1) The client which is transparent and resides with a Notes client on a Windows workstation; 2) The verifier which resides on a Windows workstation or on Windows NT/2000/XP, IBM pSeries, iSeries or zSeries server platforms. The verifier performs the function of compressing and streaming of Notes databases during replications and Notes retrievals. The verifier may optionally cache public database replications and notes; 3) The manager is an administrator tool that allows monitoring of TurboGold activity and results and also allows configuring of TurboGold verifiers. Q. What additional enhancements are included in TurboGold Enterprise Edition that is not available in Lotus Notes/Domino 6.5? A. TurboGold Enterprise Edition includes improvements in Web acceleration, centralized data control, enhanced data movement and data storage. Services for setting policies throughout the network are inherent in the design. Policies such as replication and synchronization, Web acceleration, multicasting, database priority assignments along with more efficient storage management can all be controlled by Network Administrators with TurboGold's policy based management and traffic shaping features. Q. Does TurboGold Client-to-Server software come in more than one version? A. Yes, TurboGold clients are available in three versions – standard, Web acceleration and advanced.
A. No, this risk has been eliminated by utilizing the digital signature capabilities built into Lotus Notes. When a TurboGold client starts a session with a TurboGold verifier, the client must correctly "sign" a document built and managed by the TurboGold verifier. This document signing only occurs if the client has successfully entered their Lotus Notes password allowing the TurboGold verifier to authenticate that the client is an authorized user. TurboGold does not need to sign every document that is transmitted by the client. The only thing that is "signed" by TurboGold is a pseudo-document (not stored in any database) that is created by the TurboGold verifier and this operation is only performed at the start of the session. For subsequent accesses to documents, the TurboGold verifier will only interact with users who have access privileges. |
"WebRider has already far exceeded our expectations. Our online training module’s sign-on screen load time was reduced 75%; and with WebRider we had nearly 2 to 1 greater response times with our inventory application." Larry Beckwith ![]() |
