Installation/Deployment

Q. If I want to roll out TurboGold to a large number of users throughout my organization, how can this best be accomplished?

A. Large-scale deployments of TurboGold can be accomplished by using the built-in "answer file" capability. As the name implies these “answer files” include the data for questions raised during the installation process. They can be included in a self-extracting file that can be downloaded from your Web server or from an email attachment. User involvement is confined to downloading the file and executing the self-extracting file. In addition, TurboGold's Policy Based Management provides the means to easily change TurboGold client configuration settings.

Q. Can TurboGold for Lotus iNotes & QuickPlace deployment be automated?

A. Yes, through the creation of an answer.ini text file, TurboGold for iNotes will generate a self-extracting install executable, which will allow an automatic install to occur.

Q. Can TurboGold for iNotes & QuickPlace be installed for users who have already subscribed to Lotus iNotes?

A. Yes, there is a simple procedure for creating a Web download mechanism using the template “tginotes.ntf”.

Q. If I already have TurboGold installed, how do I implement database policies?

A. You need to edit your notes.ini file for and set "tgpolicyserver." This will cause your existing "tgconfig.nsf" to have the same replica-ID as that of the "tgconfig.nsf" on the TurboGold policy server.

Q. Is there a separate install for the TurboGold manager or is it part of the standard TurboGold verifier installation?

A. TurboGold’s manager is a separate installation option on the TurboGold Client-to-Server CDROM. The TurboGold Manager will run on any computer that has a WIN32 Notes client installed.

Q. How can TurboGold help me encourage my users to replicate rather than access the server on-line?

A. Assign a higher QOS definition to replication and multicasting and a lower QOS definition to online traffic. These policies can apply to all databases on the server.

Q. Is it possible in tgoldstat.nsf to gauge the amount of traffic on each port?

A. Yes, you can use the Quality of Service (QOS) view of tgoldstat.nsf to monitor how much bandwidth is consumed by each TCP port.

Q. I want the senior executives of my company to have better service when they access their email. How can this be accomplished?

A. You would create a database policy for each of these servers that have a high priority QOS definition associated with it.

"WebRider has already far exceeded our expectations. Our online training module’s sign-on screen load time was reduced 75%; and with WebRider we had nearly 2 to 1 greater response times with our inventory application."
